Want A Small Dog? Choose A Cockapoo For You And Your Family

If you want a small dog, you have many to choose from. One type is the cockapoo which would be great for you. Keep reading to learn much more about a Cockapoo.

Great Personality

One thing you will notice when you are around this breed is they are very friendly. They love to have social interactions so take your dog with you anywhere you can. Also, have friends and family members visit often to give your dog some interactions. The cockapoo breed does not like to be left alone for long periods of time, however. Because of this, if you and all adults in your home do work long hours this may not be a good choice for you.

Because of their great personality, they are good with children, as well as other pets you may have. These dogs do have a lot of energy, however, so they may not be well for very small children, or they will need to be supervised when playing around someone that is younger.

Caring For

Cockapoo puppies are happy-go-lucky and their level of care is not too high. They are smaller dogs but still require regular exercise. If you have a fenced backyard let them out each day to run for an hour or two. Take your dog on daily walks or take them to a dog park. Just playing with them for an hour or so in your yard is great exercise. Purchase toys to play with them inside your home to give them even more exercise.

Depending on your tastes, your Cockapoo does not require frequent trips to a groomer.  You do need to make sure you brush your dog each day, and more if they spend a lot of time outdoors playing. This will help keep their hair smooth and beautiful.  Clean your dog's ears regularly as they can become infected. If you do not know how to do this contact your veterinarian who can help you.

Training

Cockapoos are intelligent dogs and taking them to a trainer will be beneficial for them. You may be surprised at how quickly they learn. Consider one-on-one training or class training. Because your dog needs a lot of interactions, class training might be preferable.

The trainer will teach your new dog to sit, stay, keep it, roll over, and much more. Along with this, the trainer can leash train your dog if you are having problems with this. This will keep your dog at your side while you are walking them instead of pulling on their leash.  The trainer can give you many tips on what you can do at home to continue with their training.

The dog breeder can give you much more information about Cockapoos.
